Lattes at Home I love Starbucks and I love this machine. Two pushes of buttons and I have my own latte - which tastes just like the ones at Starbucks. And if you want to get fancy, you can purchase the syrups and caramels and make any of their signature drinks. Best purchase ever. November 25, 2012
Pretty Good The Verismo is my 3rd single cup brewer and an addition to my Starbucks semi-automatic espresso machine purchased in 2002. It arrived well packed and took me less than 5 minutes to be up and brewing. I was a little concerned about what the milk pods would taste like so I was anxious to try the cafe latte sample pack that came with it. I was more than pleasantly surprised. The milk pods were great. The espresso brewed well. I must say that the brewing temperature is a little low though for brewing a proper shot of espresso, however brewing it into a shot glass you can see the different layers that comprise a good shot of espresso, with a good layer of crema on the top. That is surprising giving the lower brew temp and the fact that it's only a 19 bar machine. Overall I am very satisfied and it exceeded my expectations. The price to brew a double shot latte comes in just under what you would pay for the same thing in a store. That makes it the most expensive single cup brewer to use on the market, but the quality is well worth it and keeps me from having to get into the mess of my semi-automatic machine. The price of the pods, and the lower brew temp are the only reasons this machine didn't get a 5 star rating from me. October 3, 2012
Great for a daily Starbucks fix! Although the machine is a little loud, it makes a perfectly fine espresso or latte. We've used it almost daily, so it saves money too! (Of course I still enjoy getting a hand-crafted beverage from a talented barista from time to time.) Thinking about buying some of the syrups, etc to get the full at-home experience. Recommend to anyone who is looking for convenience and savings over time. June 13, 2013
Milk pods make this a horrible latte machine I am an avid Starbucks latte drinker. In fact, much to my husband's dismay, I visit "The Bucks" daily. When the Verismo was coming out, I was very excited. We have a Keurig, but it doesn't do it for this latte gal. On the day of the Verismo release, I went to the store for my typical latte and they were doing demonstrations and trials of the Verismo. The employee running the demo was kind enough to tailor the drinks for each customer wanting to try them, so I ordered a vanilla latte. 1. It tasted off. I couldn't figure out why considering it was using special Starbucks' Coffee pods and the employee was using squirts of the Starbucks' vanilla syrup that goes into my typical Starbucks drinks. Then, while inquiring further, I discovered they were using milk PODS - which is basically powdered milk mixed with water. Not fresh milk. Everything then made sense. 2. In addition to not liking the taste of the milk pods, I usually order my lattes non-fat. The milk pods only come in 2%, which is not convenient for a non-fat milk drinker. My husband recently wanted to buy me a Verismo in hopes I'd stop drinking my daily lattes from the store. However, I told him that I've tried the Verismo lattes and they aren't good, so I wouldn't use it. I'd like to see Starbucks come up with a system where you can pour in your own milk just like you pour in your own water with a Keurig. Also, my Mom, who also drinks Starbucks daily, is interested in a Verismo. I have told her about the milk pods and warned her about the taste. She is still interested in trying it out for herself, but the thought of the milk pods turn her off to this product some. June 13, 2013
