- Bring fresh, filtered water to a boil at 212F (100c).
- Pour 8 fl oz (236 ml) of water over the sachet in your cup.
- Let it steep for 5 minutes. Wait patiently for perfection.
Black tea is the fully oxidized leaf of Camellia sinensis and requires the most processing. The brewed liquor ranges between dark brown and deep red. Black teas offer the strongest flavors and, in some cases, the greatest astringency.
This traditional tea is named after British diplomat Earl Charles Grey, who became Prime Minister of the UK in the early 1830s. Legends have sprung up around how the well-traveled Earl may have come by the recipe for this bergomot-flavored tea, but we're just glad he passed it on to the masses.
