The Wahana Estate, located in Northern Sumatra, sits in the mountains surrounding Lake Toba, Indonesia’s largest volcanic crater and the largest in the world. They grow a number of native coffee varieties including the popular Rasuna coffee trees which are shaded by native trees that prevent direct sunlight and allow coffee trees to mature more slowly.
Of the thousands of coffees we encounter in our search for the best, only a precious few are deemed exceptional enough to become Starbucks Reserve® coffees, offered only for limited times at select stores.

Soft acidity, medium round body with flavors suggesting a green herbal wildness similar to tarragon and bell pepper.
For the first time, Starbucks brings you a washed coffee from Sumatra, where owners of the Wahana Estate--the island's only estate--are breaking convention to set their premium coffees apart from typical Indonesian offerings.
While most Sumatran coffees are processed using the traditional semi-washed method, these versatile Rasuana beans are fully washed, giving them more acidity and brightness and softening thei earthy robustness--rewarding you with extraordinary flavors in every cup.
