For more than a century, coffee has been cultivated in the Galápagos Islands. San Cristóbal, one of the largest islands that constitute the Galápagos Archipelago, is the only island with a fresh water source from a volcanic crater lake that flows through to create nutrient rich fertile soil.

Of the thousands of coffees we encounter in our search for the best, only a precious few are deemed exceptional enough to become Starbucks Reserve® coffees, offered only for limited times at select stores.

Every summer and fall, the Humboldt Current moves through the Galápagos Islands carrying rich nutrients and creating a subtropical climate ideal for growing premium coffee at unusually low elevations. Add the hot, equatorial sun, fresh-water springs and the fertile, volcanic soil of San Cristóbal, and you get this amazing coffee.

My absolute favorite coffee in the world! This is, without a doubt, my absolute favorite coffee in the world. That's not a figure of speech. It is 100% true. This coffee is amazing. The Bourbon varietal is my favorite among coffee beans. Bourbon beans produce a coffee that is sweet, floral and citrussy. This coffee delivers in all three area. This coffee is also very smooth and balanced which is a true credit to the men and women that roasted it. To get the most out of this coffee just keep in mind when brewing: time, temperature, grind and proportion. For best results with this coffee go with a French press to brew. For the French press let your coffee steep for 4 minutes. You want to make sure your water is hot enough but not too hot (195-205 Fahrenheit). Use a coarse grind for French press and you want to use 2 tablespoons for every 6 ounces of water. It's that simple. You cannot go wrong with this coffee. Try it. You'll love it! November 27, 2012
One of the best I thoroughly enjoy the starbucks reserve coffees. Almost all of those coffees are really good. However, the Galapagos reserve provides one of the best cups of coffee I have ever had. I love this coffee and go out of my way to buy a bag whenever I can. September 14, 2012
warm and rich depth of flavor I love this coffee. I can't get enough of it. I first ordered one bag on line. Then a couple weeks later two bags, now I'm going to order four before this reserve runs out. I love this coffee because it doesn't taste thin or bitter. It is rich and warm with a delightful depth of flavor. Notes of carmel and cocco.I am expiementing with different brewing methods and all come out great. September 11, 2012
Inconsistent I bought a bag of this at my local Starbucks and it was fantastic - rich tasting, cola notes, simply delicious. When my store ran out I purchased more online. The coffee that arrived was bland, very mild, and not well roasted. No notes of anything - just flat, bland, coffee with very little coffee flavor. As a matter of fact I have to put way more coffee than I usually do just so the coffee is darker than a light amber. Something is not right and it seems the batches are inconsistent or perhaps there was some sort of error and some other coffees made it in some of the Galapagos bags. Very odd. September 1, 2012
Mild I was suprised by the mildness of this coffee. I was really expecting a much stronger flavor with more cola & chocolate notes. It was worth the try, but I prefer a much darker coffee. August 25, 2012
