Producer:  This coffee is produced in the Sidamo region, located in the southern part of Ethiopia, by the farmers of the Homacho Waeno Cooperative.

Elevation:  2,000 meters

Variety:  Bourbon

Processing Method:  Washed

Harvest Dates:  November 2010 - February 2011

In the fertile volcanic soil of the Sidamo region, farmers plant small coffee plots in their family gardens with coffee trees growing among the very foods that feed their families. This intercropping of coffee with food crops helps support biodiversity and replenishes the soil. However, mastering this unique ecosystem is only for the few and highly experienced farmers who can maintain the delicate process.

Of the thousands of coffees we encounter in our search for the best, only a precious few are deemed exceptional enough to become Starbucks Reserve® coffees, offered only for limited times at select stores.

  • Product Details

These exotic beans have journeyed all the way from the fertile Sidamo region in Ethiopia, East Africa, to your cup. There they culminate in an astounding complexity of flavors and aromas: sweet Meyer lemon layered with spicy gingerbread and graham cracker notes and a citrus aroma.

Meticulously tended by an experienced, older generation of farmers who adhere to tradition—coffee trees are cultivated in family gardens alongside the food they grow to eat—each cherry is ripened and handpicked at its peak of flavor for you to savor.

This Starbucks Reserve® coffee is available only at select times and stores, so be sure to enjoy it when you can.

I think this is the most outstanding coffee in the Starbuck's lineup. It comes the closest to tasting like the smell of coffee brewing. I always watch for it when it comes up for sale.

As a partner I'm exposed to all of the coffee Starbucks offers but this is one of my favorites. It pairs well with some of my favorite pastries and is a delight to drink black. How I wish it was available year round!

I first had this coffee after my son returned from Washington state raving about Starbucks. He brought some home and I had a chance to order through the mail. Ethiopia Sidamo was one that I received, and I've never forgotten it. I am so glad to have caught it this time.

I really miss the Ethiopian Sidamo of the past with its unique spicy sweetness. This organic blend is just as aromatic and distinctive. I like it iced or hot. Very refreshing!
