In the fertile volcanic soil of the Sidamo region, farmers plant small coffee plots in their family gardens with coffee trees growing among the very foods that feed their families. This intercropping of coffee with food crops helps support biodiversity and replenishes the soil. However, mastering this unique ecosystem is only for the few and highly experienced farmers who can maintain the delicate process.
Of the thousands of coffees we encounter in our search for the best, only a precious few are deemed exceptional enough to become Starbucks Reserve® coffees, offered only for limited times at select stores.

These exotic beans have journeyed all the way from the fertile Sidamo region in Ethiopia, East Africa, to your cup. There they culminate in an astounding complexity of flavors and aromas: sweet Meyer lemon layered with spicy gingerbread and graham cracker notes and a citrus aroma.
Meticulously tended by an experienced, older generation of farmers who adhere to tradition—coffee trees are cultivated in family gardens alongside the food they grow to eat—each cherry is ripened and handpicked at its peak of flavor for you to savor.
This Starbucks Reserve® coffee is available only at select times and stores, so be sure to enjoy it when you can.
