This coffee from Indonesia is processed differently than the typically washed coffees from Latin America. The skins of wet-processed coffee beans are removed or "hulled" while they are still moist, then allowed to dry. While most washed coffees do not go through this wet hulling step, the process reduces acidity and increases body, resulting in a smooth, earthy flavor profile that Indonesian coffees are known for.
Of the thousands of coffees we encounter in our search for the best, only a precious few are deemed exceptional enough to become Starbucks Reserve® coffees, offered only for limited times at select stores.

A captivating coffee from the island of Java.
On the semi-forested slopes of eastern Java in Indonesia, we made a unique discovery—unroasted coffee beans with a stunning blue-green color. Once roasted, these beans become exceptionally rich and dark, releasing distinctive notes of sage and fresh earth.
Whenever we visit Indonesia, we’re captivated by what we see: from dragon-like creatures to a mosaic of cultures and even these colorful, unique beans from Java. But the astounding flavors, released upon roasting, are what really make this coffee special—a rare and exquisite tasting experience that is the quintessence of a Starbucks Reserve® coffee.
This Starbucks Reserve® coffee is available only at select times and stores, so be sure to enjoy it when you can.
