I originally purchased the model coffeegrinder that was $50 less than this top-of-the-line model. It worked fine until it siezed up. Starbucks Store made it so easy to return the coffee grinder with no questions asked, that I immediately upgraded to this new model without worry. I've only had it a few days, and so far it works and looks fantastic! The one flaw I find is the same flaw as in the other model: the dial comes off too easily with the vibrations of the grinder. It's a minor concern. It's great (and rare) to see a company stand behind it's products like Starbucks!!
This is the first burr grinder I have owned, previously I have used a blade grinder for many years. The burr grinder does indeed give a much more uniform and appropriately ground coffee for brewing in either my French Press or drip brewer, and my resulting coffee experience, both taste and lack of grounds permeating my French Press, is significantly improved. For me the step up from the blade grinder is worth the cost, though $200 does seem excessive to me, but I obviously have no idea what goes into manufacturing these grinders and producing such a cost.
This is my second grinder and it is superior in every way. I like the wide range of grind choices, the easy to fill and clean parts, the grinder timer feature, the size of the unit and it's overall stability. I'm very satisfied with this purchase. Starbucks packaged it well and it arrived in a timely manner. A+++
I am really enjoying this coffee grinder. I had the earlier edition and this model is greatly improved. It is much quieter, has a better grind selection and consistently grinds the coffee to perfection. I'm very glad I made the purchase.
