Awake is a perfectly balanced, bold and flavorful breakfast tea that satisfies and invigorates. It is a blend of fine varietal teas of northeast India and bright, full-flavored teas from Sri Lanka and Kenya.
Ingredients: A blend of select black teas.
Black teas are made from the fully fermented leaf of the Camellia sinensis and contain caffeine. Tazo® Premium black teas are grown at high elevations for the best flavor and then plucked by hand. The leaves are then crushed and tightly rolled into wiry threads to release an enzyme that, when exposed to oxygen, begins the fermentation process. They are then dried by oven firing, creating the malty, rich flavors and amber color that have been characteristic of black tea for thousands of years.
Tazo® was created for one purpose: to reinvent tea and the tea experience. By using high quality ingredients and a tremendous amount of experience and creativity, Tazo® has produced unique products that create an emotional connection with the consumer at many levels. Tazo® continues to expose consumers to the ancient traditions of tea, but presents this in a way that is bold, interesting and intriguing.
Unlike other tea companies, Tazo® purchases teas in their original container as packed at the garden to ensure the tea inside the chest or bag stays garden fresh and is not exposed to the heat and moisture in a blending facility at one of the tea shipping points.
The blending process is a very subtle art form that relies on subjective measurement of taste, color and aroma. Tazo® constantly tastes and determines which teas will go in which blend in what percentage, so flavor profiles remain consistent and of the highest quality possible.
The name Tazo® has roots in many civilizations. Tazo actually means "river of life" in the Romany Gypsy language and was used as a toast to life by ancient Greeks. Tazo also means "fresh" in several Hindi dialects. In ancient Babylonia, Tazo was a rejuvenating elixir thought to have magical properties.
Tazo® is kosher certified by KSA.

Would not purchase again

I am so disappointed with the Tazo for home teas right now (either from this mail order, in the SB store or at a local grocery). I was hopeful that the mail order ones straight from SB would be like the ones we get in the store. They were not. The at home boxes are not as full or have quality tea in them. There is just no taste! I will not be continuing this subscription. I will return to a local coffee shop which sells loose leaf tea.
I was amazed to discover that Tazo Teas are owed by Starbucks - nice surprised. The product was purchase by Charles A. Coverdale, but it was purchased for me.
I was ecstatic that he was able to find the older packaging in the 20 count. While the tins and mesh bags are nice, I felt that the price was unjustly increase while the quantity of the product decreased.
Nevertheless, the quality of the product did not dimish in the least. I love the Awake, Earl Gray and Calm. The robust, full body taste of especially the Awake is almost addicting. I am so spoiled that it is torture to drink anything else.
The Earl Gray is a nice substitute when I don't have Awake.
The Calm is awesomely relaxing. Even now, I am about to make a cup, which has become a part of my night time ritual. I travel with my Tazo teas. I don't want to risk going somewhere and they are not available.
Thank you for wonderful product!

I love this tea! You can't beat the jolt that it gives you in the morning - But without all the acid of coffee. For those with sensative stomaches - it's a must!
I have been a big fan of Awake tea for nearly 5 years now. I was sad to see the change at Starbucks locations from Filterbag to full leaf bags as the price was increased for less product. I tried the full leaf and it was not any better tasting than the original filterbags I was used to so I was happy to see I could still buy them online. Now I won't have to stop in Starbucks to pick them up anymore.
