A blend of coffees from Latin America and Asia Pacific, Espresso Roast has a dense, caramel-like sweetness and smooth, satisfying finish.
With the help of Starbucks coffee pods, it's easy to create your favorite espresso beverage at home. Each pod is filled with fresh-roasted, ground and tamped Starbucks Espresso Roast, so there's no measuring, no grinding, no mess. Just a consistently delicious shot of espresso, every time. The coffee pods can be used with Starbucks Barista® and Starbucks Barista Athena Espresso Machines and most other espresso machines.
What is an espresso pod?
A pod is a measured portion of ground espresso, compressed between two biodegradable filter paper sheets. By using an espresso maker specifically designed for use with pods, the pod allows anyone to make an excellent shot of espresso in no time. Pods are easy to use, convenient and mess free, providing a consistently delicious freshly brewed shot of espresso.
Starbucks espresso pods measure 54 mm across from the edge of the filter paper to the other. It is 43 mm across the section containing the coffee and 9 mm thick. Each pod contains 7 grams of coffee, enoough for one shot of espresso. Starbucks Espresso Roast pods can be used with most home espresso machines. The pods will fit in all espresso machines accepting E.S.E. (Easy Serving Espresso) pods.
Espresso pods are not compatible with single-serve pod coffee makers, such as Philips Senseo, Melitta One:One, Bunn My Cafe or Mr. Coffee HomeCafe
More about this coffee: The heart and soul of Starbucks. Versatile because of its delicious flavor, Espresso Roast imparts a subtle sweetness. It's roasted somewhat darker than traditional Italian espresso blends, and works as well in your home machine as it does in those of our stores.

I love starbucks pods. the only issue I have with them is the amount of packaging involved. It would seem that a great product could be produced and ordered in bulk while decreasing the paper content. Perhaps sell several pods in an airtight pouch instead of one per pouch. Just a green thought for the environment.
I live out in the country and the nearest Starbucks is 1 hour away. When I moved, my local Starbucks manager sold me a machine and got me started with the pods. The best thing that could have happened. Now I am able to have my 2 Starbuck latte's everyday. All my friends come over for coffee and we love that we can have Starbucks here in the NC mountains. The pods make it possible to have the perfect shot without the mess. I just love them.
We use the espresso pods daily in our house in the morning with our espresso machine. They produce the same quality coffee as in-house at Starbucks for a third of the price! We make our lattes in the morning and don't feel as guilty spending the cash for an afternoon coffee at Starbucks. They're great! I wish the stores carried them more often because I wouldn't have to pay for shipping fees. . .but they are hard to find in stores as customers will buy all boxes on shelf to stock up at home.
Product is good but there is too much paper in packaging. Product come in three sets of boxes! That is alot of trees! I don't like being this wasteful. Isn't there a way to protect the pods and the forests?
We have enjoyed these pods for years now, but relocating from upstate New York to the DC/Metro Area it has been difficult to find a Starbucks location that keeps them in stock.
This was my first experience ordering them on line and we have enjoyed them still. My only complaint is that it is either the distributor or the way in which the pods are shipped, but there seems to be a couple of the pods have opened up with the espresso spilling out in each of the boxes.
