Four flavors that hold their own against this bold coffee and accentuate its intensity, are: tangy cranberry, woodsy maple, buttery-sweet caramel and dense cheesecake.
Ever since my son introduced me to Starbucks (this past summer), I wouldn't have any other. His twin daughters, my grandaughters, one of whom was a barista, got him hooked and now I am. His son (four years old) calls all other coffees "brown water"!
We initially purchased Gold Coast at a Starbuck store. We loved it for its complex and bold flavor but ESPCIALLY because it was not an oily bean. This is very important in the espresson maker, (Capresso), that we use as oily beans tend to 'slip' in the grinder and not grind properly. However, the Gold Coast that we purchased WAS a quite oily roast, so we were disappointed in that. The flavor still seemed quite good.
I have brewed Gold Coast Blend for years...It has always been my favorite....recently it was sold out of every store for a while...When it came back in I definately feel the roast blend has changed and do not like as much as the old recipe. The color is more red brown as well. I also notice the label changed too....
