Starbucks® English Breakfast
Our breakfast tea has a velvety smooth flavour with a lingering hint of smoke that adds further depth and character. Rich and robust, this malty blend of black of teas goes well with milk and sugar—and, of course, hearty breakfasts.
Black teas are made from the fully fermented leaf of the Camellia sinensis plant. Starbucks® premium black teas are grown at high elevations for the best flavour and then plucked by hand. The leaves are then crushed and tightly rolled into wiry threads to release an enzyme that, when exposed to oxygen, begins the fermentation process and changes the leaves to a bright coppery colour. They are then dried by oven firing, creating the malty, rich flavours and amber colour that have been characteristic of black tea for thousands of years.
