Recipe for great coffee

  1. Use cold, filtered water and a clean machine.
  2. Grind beans just before brewing:
    • Coarse for coffee press
    • Medium for automatic drip
  3. Measure 2 tbsp (10 g) ground coffee for every 6 fl oz (180 ml) water.

To help preserve that fresh flavor, keep this bag sealed tight in a cabinet (not in the refrigerator) and brew within a week of opening.

Each coffee requires slightly different amounts of time and temperature during the roasting process to create a cup at its peak of aroma, acidity, body and flavor. We classify our coffees in three roast profiles so you can easily find your desired flavor and intensity.

  • Blonde: Blonde-roasted coffees have a shorter roast time, lighter body and mellow flavors.
  • Medium: Medium-roasted coffees are balanced with smooth and rich flavors.
  • Dark: Dark-roasted coffees feature a fuller body and robust, bold flavors.

We’re committed to ethically sourcing and roasting the highest-quality arabica coffee in the world. It also helps create a long-term supply of the high-quality beans we’ve been carefully blending, roasting and packing fresh for more than 40 years.

Guatemala Antigua

The Antigua Valley of Guatemala is treasured for its 100-year-old farms, nutrient-rich volcanic soil and its coffee, which is the touchstone of quality. Farmers take enormous pride in traditions they’ve passed on for generations. As a result, the coffee you experience is rich and multidimensional, with a flavor that’s consistent, cup after cup—lemon, chocolate and soft spice notes with an elegant mouthfeel unique to this region. It’s why we loved this coffee back in ’71, and why we love it today.

A dang fine cup of coffee! Excuse me, but this is a dang Fine cup of coffee! One of the best I've had from Starbucks. Bold and creamy chocolate all over up front, smooth and warm going down with a slight pepper at the end. It took me to a place "both wonderful and strange". -Twin Peaks I taste no bitter or burnt flavors in the grounded bag I got. January 14, 2014
Bold Reviews need a starting point, so I'll relate this to the Starbucks Ethiopian blend we've been drinking along with a dark roast of 100% Kona that my wife's father grows. The Guatemalan blend has a strong, bold, "in your face" start which lessens fairly quickly with a finish that is just slightly bitter. It doesn't have a "burnt" taste that I hear sometimes about Starbucks coffees being over-roasted, just very strong. December 23, 2013
