Recipe for great coffee

  1. Use cold, filtered water and a clean machine.
  2. Grind beans just before brewing:
    • Coarse for coffee press
    • Medium for automatic drip
  3. Measure 2 tbsp (10 g) ground coffee for every 6 fl oz (180 ml) water.

To help preserve that fresh flavor, keep this bag sealed tight in a cabinet (not in the refrigerator) and brew within a week of opening.

Each coffee requires slightly different amounts of time and temperature during the roasting process to create a cup at its peak of aroma, acidity, body and flavor. We classify our coffees in three roast profiles so you can easily find your desired flavor and intensity.

  • Blonde: Blonde-roasted coffees have a shorter roast time, lighter body and mellow flavors.
  • Medium: Medium-roasted coffees are balanced with smooth and rich flavors.
  • Dark: Dark-roasted coffees feature a fuller body and robust, bold flavors.

French Roast

It’s our darkest and boldest and not for the faint of heart. We start with high-quality beans that can withstand the intense heat that makes French Roast what it is, and we roast them to their edge. The result is a delectably smoky cup, intense and uncompromising.

Available in whole bean or ground coffee.

Everyone's got to have a favorite. The Whole Bean French Roast has been my favorite coffee for about 25 years, and I've tried my share of coffee too. Real Blue Mountain, to Mexican and every brand name. I still want to try those others, but want my Starbucks French Roast, freshly ground, run through my espresso machine, with frothed half & half in the morning, and you can expect a fork through your hand if you try reaching over to take it from me! It taste like heaven! May 17, 2013
Only one we drink, daily! I became a Starbucks customer in 1986, living in Seattle who wasn't! I began brewing my own at home shortly after, it's been French Roast at home everyday, I cannot drink anything but! When we travel I take my own coffee with me be it flying or driving. If I'm out and about it's my double short breve` latte at the counter or when it's hot out , I make it a tall iced latte with an extra shot. My family thinks I'm obsessed, they are correct! If it's not my Starbuck's French Roast I will not drink it! May 17, 2013
