Recipe for great coffee
- Use cold, filtered water and a clean machine.
- Grind beans just before brewing:
- Coarse for coffee press
- Medium for automatic drip
- Measure 2 tbsp (10 g) ground coffee for every 6 fl oz (180 ml) water.
To help preserve that fresh flavor, keep this bag sealed tight in a cabinet (not in the refrigerator) and brew within a week of opening.
Each coffee requires slightly different amounts of time and temperature during the roasting process to create a cup at its peak of aroma, acidity, body and flavor. We classify our coffees in three roast profiles so you can easily find your desired flavor and intensity.
- Blonde: Blonde-roasted coffees have a shorter roast time, lighter body and mellow flavors.
- Medium: Medium-roasted coffees are balanced with smooth and rich flavors.
- Dark: Dark-roasted coffees feature a fuller body and robust, bold flavors.

We are daily coffee drinkers and are pretty particular about what we drink. French Roast is our favorite morning coffee. We use a percolator to brew our coffee and there is nothing better than the smell of french roast as it brews and fills up the kitchen with it's satisfying aroma. Highly recommend French Roast for anyone who loves coffee.

Lots of people do not like strong coffee. Millions of people drink weak coffee everyday. If someone would speak against French Roast, they obviously prefer something like Blonde Roast. Kudos to Starbucks for trying to reach out to all people in their markets. I think having Starbucks at the Truck Stops and X-press marts would be another good move for Starbucks. Thanks!

This is a bold yet smooth tasting coffee. I love the bold taste and I buy it for home because I can drink it whenever the spirit moves me without leaving my home.

Not as great as it used to be. I have been drinking French Roast for 20 plus years and Starbucks for close to 20 years. When Starbucks had home delivery in the 1990's the quality of the French Roast was outstanding, big, robust and deep flavor. But over time whether I purchase it at the neighborhood Starbuck's or now from mail order the quaility is different...it is much thinner, maybe it suffers from having been in the bag too long or roasted too long ago. It would also help if the coffee was ground appropriately for my paper, cone drip pot which is fine, but they always seem to do it too coarsely at the neighborhood Starbucks's and different grind options are not available for mail order. It just may be time for me to move away from Starbuck's French Roast due to the inconsistency of the product.
