Encore Coffee Grinder by Baratza

Building on the success of the Maestro Plus Grinder, Baratza created the Encore Grinder, which features upgraded conical burrs, 40 accurate and repeatable grind settings, and a new, quieter and better-wearing gearbox. A great all-around grinder for your home, the Encore offers a coarse grind that’s perfect for popular manual brew methods such as coffee press, pour-over, Aeropress, Siphon and Chemex, while its fine grind is great for making consistently flavorful espresso.

Best Burr Grinder Under $300! I have read user reviews for the Encore that bash it for it's lack of timer while it's predecessor, the Maestro, included a timer. Well, I say balderdash! There is no sense of a timer on a burr grinder, and quite frankly I wouldn't trust the timer anyway. You should weigh your beans to the correct mass, and then grind them. Don't try to keep the hopper full all the time. This grinder does a fantastic job. The grind is consistent, and the range is excellent. I have used it for espresso, drip, and French press. I'll be trying it for Turkish next. The hopper is a little flimsy compared to the Maestro, but otherwise this is a great grinder. For the money, you can't go wrong! March 22, 2013
No timer setting on grinder The grinder arrived damaged (hopper was cracked), and then I realized it just had an on/off switch instead of a timer that you can set to grind and stop. We have a Starbuck's Grinder that we love and the most important feature is the timer that you can turn to the setting you want and it stops when the right amount of coffee is ground. This grinder does not have a timer. I will be returning it. December 24, 2012
